Channel 4 has announced the cast of its new Wagatha Christie drama, with Michael Sheen taking up the role of Coleen Rooney’s barrister.
The two-part film, Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama, will air later this year and has been created from court transcripts.
“The court transcripts are utterly compelling and give a deep insight into the relationship between celebrities and the media, as well as showing how far some people will go to protect their reputation,” said Channel 4 Commissioning Editor, Tim Hancock.
Starring alongside Sheen are This Is England’s Chanel Cresswell, as Rooney. Harry Potter and Game of Thrones actor, Natalia Tena will be Rebekah Vardy.
Simon Coury has been cast as Vardy’s barrister while Wayne Rooney and Jamie Vardy will be played by Dion Lloyd and Marci Nagyszokolyai.
The court case has attracted much media attention, with Disney+ also making a behind the scenes documentary, with exclusive access to Coleen Rooney.
