Jennifer Williams, Politics and Investigations Editor at Manchester Evening News, has announced she is leaving the role to join the Financial Times as Northern Correspondent.
Williams, who is renowned for covering political developments across Greater Manchester, announced she is leaving the regional title after 11 and a half years.
Announcing Williams’ move to the Financial Times, Whitehall editor Sebastian Payne commented in a tweet that “one of the best journalists in the land is joining our merry band”.
Editors and journalists from across the UK joined in to congratulate Williams on the move. Karl Holbrook, outgoing editor of The Northern Echo who was recently announced as the new Executive Editor of the Daily Express, tweeting: “Big signing and great to see the nationals seeking out the finest northern voices.”
