Award-winning duo, Rachel Miles and Michael Tsim have joined Meanwhile from BBC Creative.
The pair, formerly senior creatives at BBC Creative, will serve as Meanwhile’s very first creative directors.
Both new hires started their careers with BMB and Ogilvy, while the pair previously worked under Meanwhile founders James Cross and Tim Jones at the BBC for five years, winning awards including a BAFTA for their Tokyo Olympics film and two Cannes Lions for their work on the broadcaster’s rebrand, ‘This Is Our BBC’.
They also set a billboard on fire for David Attenborough’s Perfect Planet, got us tapping our toes for Strictly Come Dancing, and championed BBC Creative U, helping to improve the diversity of young talent entering the industry.
Miles and Tsim will be taking on a new set of challenges at Meanwhile, by leading and shaping the agency’s creative department while helping to create ideas for its growing client roster.
“We are made-up that Rachel and Michael have chosen to join us, it’s a total coup for us” says Cross, CCO and founder of Meanwhile. “They bring a wealth of craft and leadership experience, with a brilliant track record of producing incredible ideas and authentic executions too. They are lovely people, and there’s nobody better to help shape our culture as we grow.”
Miles said “Our creative vision is to make brave, bold, beautifully crafted work that impacts culture. We know Meanwhile value us and our thinking – we can’t wait to sing from the same hymn sheet. We are really excited to be part of what’s to come.”
Tsim added “We couldn’t be happier to be back with Tim and James. We can’t wait to make brilliant, iconic, culture-defining work together again. We are delighted to be joining Meanwhile.”
The appointment follows a recruitment campaign by the agency featuring Bez from the Happy Mondays, depicting the dancer as departing the agency following his involvement at launch.
