Premium kitchen retailer Magnet has appointed McCann Manchester as its strategic and creative agency responsible for its retail business following a multi-way competitive pitch.
The contract is effective immediately and sees McCann Manchester take over the account from Cheetham Bell JWT. It marks a return of the business to McCann Manchester which last held the account in 2005.
McCann Manchester will assume responsibility for all strategic planning and creative, to drive awareness and footfall into Magnet’s 199 retail outlets. The agency is already working with more than 15 retailers and etailers across a wide range of categories.
Four agencies pitched for the advertising account, with McCann Manchester up against BJL, Isobel and Krow Communications. CheethamBell wasn’t involved in the process.
“Our market is evolving rapidly and after a long and successful relationship with Cheetham Bell JWT we recognise we need a new partner to help power the next stage of our growth,” said Ian Lambert, marketing director of Magnet.
“Following a detailed pitch process we have appointed McCann Manchester as our new agency partner. The McCann team demonstrated outstanding retail know-how alongside the ability to build our brand platform and help evolve our consumer proposition to the next level.
Richard Aldiss, managing director of McCann Manchester, added:
“We are truly thrilled to have been appointed following a detailed and comprehensive review process. Magnet was a long standing client at McCann and to have brought it back to the agency is genuinely exciting.”
