Creative and marketing recruitment agency Creative Resource has announced McCann Leeds as the lead sponsor of its Leeds programme of School of Thought – the 12-week scheme for young creatives.

Participants in the three-month programme work with leading agencies for exposure to new approaches across channels such as TV, radio, digital and social – with one participant winning a ticket, flight and accommodation to Cannes Lions in 2023.

With applications closing this Friday, the scheme begins on April 25th, with participants virtually meeting different hosts each Monday for their brief, then reconvening in person that Thursday to pitch responses.

The winner of School of Thought Leeds is set to be announced on July 28th, having had the chance to work with agencies including Finn, Syn, Ponderosa, IMA HOME, Mediaworks, Tomoro, The Sharp Agency, Journey Further, Propaganda and Creode.

Phil Cookson, Creative Resource Director and Co-founder of School of Thought, said: “There is nothing like this in the North and taking part can fast track your creative career. We’re pushing for more agencies to encourage their staff to get involved; especially the ones they feel have hidden creative potential.

“It’s great to have the McCann Leeds team joining us as lead sponsor this year. We couldn’t run the competition without the continued support of all the other agencies involved and the wider industry.”

Olly Sowden, Managing Partner at McCann Leeds, added: “We’re excited to be the lead sponsor of School of Thought Leeds 2022, adding to our wider drive to support and grow talent within the region.

“The programme has already nurtured and showcased some of the North’s most creative thinkers, so everyone in the team is massively looking forward to listening to the responses to our brief and hosting the participants at our Boar Lane offices.”
