Three Northern production companies have received commissions in the new series of CBBC’s My Life.
MCC Media, Blakeway North and Nine Lives Media will each make one of seven films to be aired in early 2014.
A further 10 films for the series, which follow the lives of “truly incredible young people”, have been commissioned for 2015.
Sunderland’s MCC Media has made My Life: The Floating Hospital, which follows a 15-year-old British girl called Iona, who sails with her family on hospital ship The Africa Mercy, and Grace, a Congolese teenager whose life has been shattered by the growth of an enormous tumour on her face. Audrey Neil is executive producer.
In My Life: The Most Famous School In The World, Blakeway North – the Manchester-based arm of Ten Alps-owned Blakeway Productions – has produced a two-part film following three boys who have all won New Foundation Scholarships to Eton College. Executive producer is Sarah Murch.
Nine Lives’ My Life: One Way Ticket follows 10-year-old Daniel and his family as they emigrate from Devon to Wellington, New Zealand. Cat Lewis has executive produced.
Kez Margrie, CBBC’s executive producer for the My Life films, said: “This latest series features some truly incredible young people and they all have very different stories to tell.
“At CBBC we try to encourage our viewers to see the world in a new and interesting way and we hope that the extraordinary personal stories told by the children in My Life will inspire them to do just that.”
