ColleenFollowing on from the news that Mason Williams has been reappointed as the PR agency handling Tesco’s Mum of the Year Awards, the agency has revealed that Coleen Rooney is to be the face of the 2014 awards.

Previous ambassadors of the nine year old initiative have included Denise Van Outen and Sara Cox.

Coleen’s role will be to help encourage the public to vote for the ‘most deserving mums’ in the UK. The initiative culminates in a slap-up lunch in London the weekend before Mothers’ Day.

A spokesperson for Tesco, Debbie Chernin, said: “Coleen was chosen to be our Ambassador because charity work lies very close to her heart.

“She manages to juggle a busy home life with two young boys with her business life as a fashion designer, as well as several TV projects and columns she has been involved with. Plus she does extraordinary work for several charities, including Claire House Children’s Hospice, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and she has also been involved with the Jeans for Genes charity. She is a popular personality and always cheerful.”

Prolific North readers who might be interested in adding their tuppence to the nominations need to get their skates on as voting closes this Friday.
