This afternoon, The Manchester Arena Inquiry has published its report into the emergency services’ response to the 2017 terror attack.

The 1000 page publication is highly critical of the emergency services, saying police, fire and ambulance services “failed to work together.”

While chairman, Sir John Saunders stated that he wasn’t trying to find scapegoats, he did say that he hoped to give some comfort to the families of those who died, or were affected in the attack.

One of those who lost their lives when a suicide bomber attacked an Ariana Grande concert, was Altrincham PR manager, Martyn Hett.

His death led to tributes around the world, including from Mariah Carey and a hashtag, #BeMoreMartyn started trending.

His former agency, Rumpus, rebranded to include a bold colours and a bee to remember him.

Today, the Inquiry revealed more details about his final moments.

When the bomb detonated, he was approximately 4 metres away from the seat of the explosion.

A TravelSafe officer checked on him, following the explosion, but he did not respond. He was confirmed dead at 23.44.

A post-mortem confirmed that his injuries were unsurvivable.

According to the report, 1 of the 22 victims could have survived had they received proper care.

Sir John Saunders said that he hoped the inquiry would make a difference and prevent errors happening again.

“This is a hope which is shared by the Home Secretary and I hope that we can work together to achieve that aim,” he stated.

“I am confident that all the rescue services are also determined that this should happen.”

The inquiry was established 2 years ago and during that time 291 witnesses and experts have provided evidence. It was set up to assess the emergency response and examine the circumstances of each person who lost their lives at the arena.
