True North weaves together diverse yearbook themes for Royal Mail

True North has revealed its design for the 2019 Royal Mail Yearbook.

With themes as diverse as D-Day and The Gruffalo, the Manchester agency decided to use a “versatile line motif” to weave together all 14 topics.

The concept, Along These Lines, was inspired by the idea that ever since their invention, postage stamps have helped connect people across the world.

For each element, the line takes on a different life, for example, sprouting twigs and branches in The Gruffalo section, while in The Great Exhibition, it echoes the outline of the windows in Crystal Palace.

True North’s designers explained that they used Dharma Gothic Condensed as the headline typeface throughout the book, because it “complementing the line motif.”
