Manchester PR company Pressat has started accepting payment in bitcoins, the virtual currency.
Launched three years ago by digital agency Atmedia, Pressat allows brands to create and distribute social media news releases to target media. It works with partners including the Press Association and Thomson Reuters.
It says that using bitcoin goes hand in hand with its purely digital operations.
Bitcoin is the fastest growing decentralised digital currency in the world and its value has grown rapidly this year.
Max Forrest, Pressat’s development director, said: “We’re proud to be the first public relations company in the UK to accept bitcoins as a payment method.
“Thousands of people have invested and are continuing to invest in bitcoins, many are business owners and will find exchanging the coins for PR a valuable commodity for public relations and marketing purposes.”
Customers can now choose the bitcoin payment method when submitting a press release on Pressat’s website.
