Journalist Emma Higgins, formerly of Manchester World and Local TV, has departed the National World-owned platforms for a new job with the BBC in Manchester.
Announcing the move, which will see her work for BBC Breakfast as well as the newly Manchester-based News at One, on LinkedIn Higgins said:
“I am delighted to announce I have accepted a position as journalist at BBC Breakfast and News at One and will be leaving LocalTV next week.
It is an absolute dream come true to have secured a job at the BBC after so much hard work – particularly over the last few months – and I can’t wait to take this next step in my career.
My time at LocalTV and ManchesterWorld has given me so much experience as a local journalist covering big events and exciting regional stories, but this is such an amazing opportunity which can’t be missed.
I can’t quite believe will be starting my dream new job in just a couple of weeks.”
Video journalist Higgins began her career as a trainee journalist at NewsAssociates, also in Manchester, before her move to Manchester World in 2022.
