Tokyo, New York, Dakar, Manchester. Chanel is heading to North West England to stage its next show.
While not many details have been revealed, Chanel confirmed that the 2023/24 collection, which was a “celebration of the savoir-faire of Chanel’s meters d’art,” would be take place in the city on December 7th.
“Presented in cities and places that inspire the house, from Tokyo to New York, via Dakar last year, this collection bears witness to the historic commitment of Chanel to this exceptional artisanal heritage and its influence around the world,” it stated.
Previous events have seen the likes of Pharrell Williams and Naomi Campbell take their seats in palaces, or guests watch from pontoons in Shanghai.
While Old Trafford and the ship canal may not necessarily compare, Manchester’s textile history is well known. Recently Haider Ackermann unveiled his Fila collaboration at the Warehouse Project, while another designer, Yahoo Kusama has just completed an installation for Manchester International Festival.
The annual Métiers d’Art event was set up in 2002 to showcase the work of specialist brands and ateliers.
