Manchester United has reported the financial results of its third quarter, showing that revenues continue to rise.

During the period, it signed a global partnership with Marriott and Maui Jim eyewear, which meant commercial revenue for the period was £66.6m. That was unchanged from the pervious quarter.

Sponsorship remained static at £41.6m, as did Retail, Merchandising and Product Licensing (£25m).

However, Broadcasting income rose by 8.9% year-on-year, due to the new UEFA Champions League broadcasting rights agreement, and playing an additional Premier League game. In total, it received £53.8m for broadcasting over the period.

“After a turbulent season, everyone at Manchester United is focussed on building towards the success that this great club expects and our fans deserve,” said Ed Woodward, Executive Vice Chairman.

“Preparations for the new season are underway and the underlying strength of our business will allow us to support the Manager and his team as we look to the future.”

Total revenues for the period were £152.1m, with an operating profit of £14.2m.
