A new partnership will be announced tonight, to help creatives get film and television projects off the ground, while enabling them to retain greater control and ownership.
Blue Bear Film and Television Ltd is a joint venture between Creative England, The Agency (London) – a writers and directors agency, and specialist TV and media business affairs company, Big Deal.
The umbrella firm will be based in Manchester and London, and led by talent agent and producer, Ian Benson.
“Key talent increasingly sell TV and film projects. We intend to put that talent centre stage and package all the support around them, giving them more control and a bigger stake. We believe this is an attractive proposition and look forward to collaborating with some of the best and most exciting talent out there,” he explained.
Announced at CE Live: Northern Lights, this evening, Blue Bear will work with writers, directors and producers across television and film.
It will provide executive producers, finance, business affairs, deal-making and practical production management and in return, the company will co-own the productions, with the talent.
“The North is a hotbed of creative talent and we’ve recognised an opportunity to further grow and represent that talent, in a primarily northern based environment and building long-term, meaningful connections. Blue Bear aims to create a network of film and TV talent, all working together to take control of their creativity and achieve a stake in the profit of successful projects,” stated Caroline Norbury MBE, CEO of Creative England.
