Irish web design firm DMAC Media has shared its motivations for choosing Manchester as the base for its recent UK expansion.
With over 16 years of trading from its Sligo office, the expansion of the company post-COVID has prompted the opening of a second location.
Dave McEvoy, founder and director of DMAC Media, said: “Once we decided to expand into the UK, Manchester was the obvious choice for us.
“There is explosive digital growth and so much happening here; it’s the creative capital of the UK.
“Where you have a lot of creatives, you also need engineers, the people who can nail the ideas down and make them work. In that sense, we go hand in hand; it’s a perfect fit.”

Manchester was hailed by TechNation as the fastest-growing tech city in Europe in 2020, and DMAC Media’s Manchester office is based at MediaCityUK, the heart of digital innovation in the North.
“With the post-Covid boom of ecommerce, we were presented with an opportunity to grow. We had two options: scale the business, or replicate a business of the same size, in a second location. We chose the latter.
“We’re a boutique firm with personal relationships with each of our clients. We wanted to make sure that ethos continued, even as we grew.
“What made Manchester perfect for DMAC was the energy and drive of London, with the style and intimacy of a much smaller city.
“It’s opened a whole new spectrum of clients, who have their own unique stories, but with problems we’re experienced in solving.
He added: “Our Irish customers would assume we’ve moved here for the football, but I can confirm that’s not the case.”
DMAC Media appointed Craig Thompson as head of UK sales in December 2024, to lead the UK office’s growth plans following a doubling of UK revenue in the last 6 months of the year.
The Manchester team hired the former client relationship manager to support new business growth across its web development and digital marketing services.
Having worked for over 10 years in senior sales roles, Thompson joined the DMAC team during a record-breaking 2024 where the company designed and developed 60 new websites for businesses in multiple sectors across the UK and Ireland.
