Manchester Mayoral candidates quizzed on digital skills shortage

The 2 leading candidates to be Manchester Mayor have been questioned about their plans for the city’s digital sector by Tangerine Communications and The Juice Academy.

Sean Anstee, the leader of Trafford Council and Andy Burnham MP both visited the agency’s offices to talk to business leaders, apprentices and graduates.

They were then questioned by Tangerine’s CEO, Sandy Lindsay MBE:

“We are very fortunate in that both of the leading mayoral candidates have a deep understanding of education and skills and their vital importance to our economy.  I was encouraged also by their answers on digital skills in particular – there are myriad stats that prove that if we don’t make a step change in the way we’re addressing digital skills in our region, and soon, many of our most promising businesses will suffer and the productivity gap between our region and others will continue to grow. I await May 4th with interest.”

Linday’s question to them both was:

What are your views on the issue of the digital skills gaps and, if you were to become mayor, what would you do about them?
