Manchester City has launched its festive community campaign in its online and retail stores to give young people in Manchester the gift of football this Christmas.

‘A Time For Giving’ will provide fans with an opportunity to come together with the Club to fund thousands of hours of free football for young people in Manchester throughout 2023.

For every purchase a fan makes from a range of selected Christmas clothing items, the Club will donate £5 to its charity, City in the Community.

Fans can also make additional donations at the tills in the stadium store, when checking out online during their purchase journey for match tickets, and via mancity.com/CITC.

Manchester City will match each of these donations to increase the overall funds for City in the Community football programmes, up to the value of £75,000, including £5 donated for each sale of selected Christmas retail clothing items.

A £5 donation, which is then matched by Manchester City, during November and December, will enable a young person to enjoy four hours of free football and a healthy lunch in the school holidays in 2023.

Danny Wilson, managing director, Manchester City Operations and City in the Community Trustee, said: “Manchester City’s new Christmas campaign encapsulates the community values of our football club and builds on the donation of Christmas gifts and footballs to every child in East Manchester over the past two years, by providing opportunities to play the game, stay healthy and make new friends in 2023.

We hope that this Christmas together with our fans, we can make a difference to the lives of thousands of young people across Manchester.”

City in the Community supports city youth to empower healthier lives through football. Supporting people across Greater Manchester since 1986, programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.

Elsewhere this Christmas, the charity will be supporting local people with free events for families, the elderly and young carers, as well as facilitating the donation of Christmas Day meal items to local foodbanks. Both City in the Community and Manchester City staff will also be volunteering at six local charities.

Manchester City will also continue its annual support for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital through donating gifts to children who are staying in hospital over the festive period.

Fans can purchase their Christmas retail clothing items and make matched donations to City in the Community until midnight on the 31st December 2022.
