Manchester Airport has hired a bilingual airport marketing manager as it increases its ties with China.
The group, which already has a presence on Chinese social media, is also working closely with state-owned construction company, BCEGI, which is behind the Airport City scheme.
Dr Charlotte Shi is a former senior lecturer in fashion marketing and branding at Nottingham Trent University. She’s also a project consultant for Unibail-Rodamco in Paris and holds a PhD from the University of Manchester.
“It’s fantastic to be joining Manchester Airport’s Marketing team and I’m excited to jump in and manage the airport’s Marketing. There is so much happening at Manchester and I’m looking forward to using my previous experience and knowledge of marketing to promote all that the airport has to offer,” she stated.
In addition to heading up the airport’s brand management, she will work on the airport’s Runway Visitor Park event and visitor marketing and be responsible for the Hainan Airlines marketing support programme.
“I am delighted to have Charlotte join us at what is a very busy and exciting time at the airport. The success of Hainan Airlines’ direct flights from Manchester to Beijing is evident in our recently launched China Dividend Report so Charlotte’s work with marketing and Chinese social media is incredibly important,” added Patrick Alexander, head of marketing at Manchester Airport.
