Liverpool is planning to transform an area around its Docklands into a “cultural quarter.”
Dubbed Ten Streets, it’s less than a mile from the city centre and runs between Peel’s £5.5bn Liverpool Waters development and the Stanley Dock area.
The council is hoping that the Cultural Enterprise Industry Hub will attract digital and creative businesses.
“Liverpool’s Atlantic Corridor has the potential to become one of the jewels in the North of England’s economy. It’s been a sleeping giant for far too long and now thanks to work with partners such as Peel and Harcourt we have for the first time in generations a plan to resurrect its fortunes,” said Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson.
It follows continued success for the Baltic Creative development in the city. Earlier this summer it announced that it would expand further, transforming 45,000sq ft of disused warehouses at the Cains Brewery.
