Liverpool has been chosen as the host city for the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.
The news was revealed just now on The One Show by Graham Norton.
20 UK cities originally bid for the competition, which was narrowed down to Liverpool and Glasgow.
Sonia, who came second in the 1993 competition said she was “absolutely over the moon.”
The event will take place at the 11,000 capacity M&S Bank Arena, which said tonight:
“We are ecstatic to have won the bid to host #Eurovision! We know this will be a fantastic event and we’ll do Ukraine proud. Let’s show the world how Liverpool can put on a party! #AllYouNeedIsLove.”
The UK is hosting the 67th Eurovision competition on behalf of Ukraine, which won the event this year.
