In what it’s describing as a “landmark move,” Leeds-based thebigword Group has acquired Clarion.
Financial details haven’t been released, however, the combined group will now be the largest British Sign Language company in the UK.
Clarion has more than 22 years of experience providing NRCPD registered sign language interpreters across a number of sectors such as, legal, health and education.
Tech and translation specialist, thebigword, has offices around the world and says it supports more than 250 languages. The firm, which has its headquarters in Leeds is also the Official Interpreting Partner of the Women’s England Deaf Football Team.
Today it stated that it “assures continuity for all clients and sign languages interpreters.” It added that there would be “no changes in the operations or delivery of services.”
Clarion will continue to operate as a standalone unit, led by Samantha Turner, who’ll continue to be Managing Director. Turner explained:
“This is a momentous occasion for everyone at Clarion. Joining forces with thebigword Group opens up a world of opportunities for innovation and growth. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the BSL community, and I am thrilled to lead Clarion into this exciting new chapter.”
Joshua Gould, CEO of thebigword Group added:
