Law firm launches northern tech start-ups and emerging companies service

Amy Pierechod - Law firm Gordons

Law firm Gordons has launched a service to support Northern tech start-ups and emerging high-growth businesses to accelerate growth.

The law firm, which is the sole legal partner to digital and tech start-up investment firm NorthInvest, provides emerging companies and investors with advice – ranging from fundraising to exit advice.

Marketing technology platform ContentCal is among one of Gordons’ start-ups and emerging companies clients, with the platform entering into an agreement to be acquired by Adobe Inc. in December 2021.

Other clients using the service include film production company HTYT, construction web application company C-Link and multiple private and corporate investors.

Solicitor Amy Pierechod, who also leads Gordons’ relationship with NorthInvest, is the firm’s head of start-ups and emerging companies which advises owners of start-ups and high growth businesses as well as investors.

Amy Pierechod (pictured) said: “Through our work with NorthInvest we have built up a great network of founder and investor clients and we recognise that they need fast, to the point advice that focuses on what is important to them,”

“The launch of our start-ups and emerging companies service recognises the particular challenges faced by companies in these early stages and we want to work with those businesses to help them grow.”

The team advises on all aspects of its clients’ business operations, including Series A fundraises, licensing and exploiting ideas and technology, commercial contracts and incentivising employees.

She added: “There is a tremendous amount of entrepreneurial talent in the North. Our aim is to be a first choice law firm for start-ups and emerging companies to enable entrepreneurs to realise their growth potential as quickly and effectively as possible.”
