Antipodean pop princess Kylie Minogue and Queen frontman Adam Lambert are the stars of two new ITV commissions for Lifted Entertainment.

Loud: An Adam Lambert Documentary (working title) is a 60 minute documentary in which Lambert will explore the history of Queer artists in the music industry.

Grammy-nominated Lambert, a successful artist in his own right both before and during his ongoing Queen gig, will open up about his success and the barriers he has faced as an openly gay man in the music industry. The doc follows Lambert as he discovers jaw-dropping personal revelations from some of the UK’s biggest pop icons from the LGBTQ+ community.

Lambert was runner up in Pop Idol 2009 and, four years later, became the first openly gay artist to top the US billboard album chart with his second album. Adam delves deep to uncover the realities of the British LGBTQ+ experience compared to his own experience in the US, and sets out to uncover how being queer has impacted the careers of his favourite British music artists.

Lambert said: “LGBTQ+ representation in the music industry has increased significantly over the last decade. It’s a pleasure to work with ITV and the Lifted Entertainment team in creating a documentary exploring the intersection of music and Pride as well as some incredible LGBTQ+ artists embracing their authentic selves and the impact they’ve had on pop culture and the obstacles queer artists have faced.”

Kylie Minogue needs little introduction, and perhaps the most notable part of the news that she will be adding to the hugely successful An Audience With… series would be that it hasn’t happened already, except it has – Minogue was previously the subject of An Audience With… in a show first broadcast on October 6, 2001.

As ever, the new show will feature live performances, questions from the floor posed by specially invited VIP guests, including celebrity Kylie superfans, and a look back at Kylie’s five-decade career, from soap spin-off, bubble-gum pop with Stock, Aitken and Waterman to bone fide cultural icon and Nick Cave duettist, and beyond.

Kylie will look back on the highlights of a life in music and showbiz, performing both her current floor fillers like summer chart topper Padam Padam and an array of favourites from her vast back catalogue.

Loud: An Adam Lambert Documentary is commissioned by Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning ITV and David Smyth, entertainment commissioning editor at ITV. Executive producer for Lifted Entertainment is Kat Hebden and Pete Grant is directing.

An Audience With is commissioned by Rawcliffe and Lily Wilson, entertainment commissioning editor at ITV. Executive producer for Lifted Entertainment is creative director Fiona Clark. Produced by Lifted Entertainment, and co-produced with BMG Records.

International Distribution for both will be handled by ITV Studios.

Lifted Entertainment is part of ITV Studios with offices in MediaCityUK and London. Its existing shows include Love Island, The Voice and I’m a Celebrity. Its latest show, My Mum, Your Dad, is set to launch on ITV1 and ITVX in September.
