BBC Sounds is producing a new podcast series, You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker, as the Manchester City defender reflects on his career.
Hosted by Chris Hughes, Walker will explain how it all started at Sheffield United, to playing in the Champions League Finals and lining up against Lionel Messi.
“I’ve been lucky to have had an incredible footballing journey so far, from working through the ranks at Sheffield United, playing for Spurs and England and to winning six Premier League titles and the Champions League with Manchester City,” said Walker.
“Like all players I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs in my playing career and have worked and played with some incredible people. My new podcast will look back across my life in football and I hope football fans will enjoy listening to some of the untold stories people who have played their part in it. It’s not always easy to put into words just what being a footballer is like from the tough times to the glory days – there’s always pressure. The podcast will give the people listening new insights into the game and the world of those of us lucky enough to realise their dreams and play as professionals at the top level.”
In Episode 1 he’ll discuss the best players he’s played with and against; reveals how he defends the most difficult wide men in the world, and explains how, despite winning 17 major trophies, he still doubts himself.
