Job losses at University Challenge and The Voice producer

Manchester and London-based ITV Studios label Lifted Entertainment has begun a consultation on up to 20 redundancies.

Deadline reports that between 15 and 20 roles at the production house are at risk, around 10% of the total, circa-160-staff, Lifted Entertainment operation.

Lifted produces a number of TV’s most popular entertainment titles, including the MediaCity-shot University Challenge for the BBC and ITV’s The Voice, as well as hits like Saturday Night Takeaway and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

An ITV Studios spokesman told Deadline: “We can confirm that we are in formal consultation with colleagues and are supporting them during this time. As you can imagine, it would be inappropriate to share any further details at this stage.”

The news comes after a period of challenging ad revenues and rising costs for broadcasters and producers alike amidst the economic downturn and cost-living crisis. ITV itself has already announced a recruitment freeze and spending crackdown this year.
