After more than two decades at the BBC, Jeff Brown has confirmed that he’s to leave BBC Look North.
A television fixture in the North East for 21 years, he said he was planning to move onto new projects, some of them will involve the BBC.
He joined Look North initially as its sports presenter in 2003, prior to that he’d had 6 years at Tyne Tees – working alongside Mike Neville.
Brown grew up in Sunderland and got his first job as a freelancer for the Sunderland Echo as a teenager. He’s worked in the region for most of his career, with a mini “blip”, when he spent 4 years at newspapers in Birmingham.
Outside of journalism, he wrote Cornered, about former Sunderland defender, David Corner, which hit the stage in 2020 and was also adapted into an audio format.
Good luck and Bon voyage Jeff!

“Jeff is going to be hugely missed by audiences and sporting communities across the region, as well as his colleagues here at BBC Look North,” said Kay Wright, BBC Editor for the North East and Cumbria.
“Jeff brings immeasurable knowledge, passion, and pride to all that he does. And he’ll be a tough act to follow. But we wish Jeff every success in whatever adventures he embarks on next.”
