JD, the leading retailer for sports, fashion and lifestyle brands, has completed the last of the double-weekend March Manchester takeover, hosting an epic four-part activation with Manchester-born, Gorton-raised rapper Nemzzz in collaboration with Nike, for the highly-anticipated Airmax Dn8 launch.
Weekend one saw a suite of city-wide flyposting and custom street-signs kickstarting the hype, Nemzzz took to the streets of Manchester in a a supercar convoy consisting of a Mercedes G63, Can Am Maverick and a Land Rover Defender 6×6. The convoy played tracks from Nemzzz’s mixtape, with hosts dropping clues on the megaphone.
Kicking off in Nemzzz’s hometown, Gorton, there was a proper moment for the community, where the local rapper visited his neighbourhood corner shop to give out Dn8 keyrings to kids and locals who had gathered.

Rolling into a locked down Exchange Square with JD Nike Dn8 branded barricades, where host @baggys.tv got the crowd hyped with a range of challenges, while the convoy blasted beats from custom speakers. Challenge winders snagged tickets to the shutdown appearance on the convoy’s final stop, as well as fresh Dn8’s they could bag from the JD store. The grand finale hit an underground car park on Deansgate, where DJ Rohxn and Zeddy East supported before Nemzzz stepped out, repping his roots and treated the crowd to an unforgettable private performance.
Taking it to the next level, the duo hit up Manchester’s legendary tramline for weekend two, where Nemzzz fans were treated to another unforgettable lock-in live appearance. This time staged in a wrapped custom tram which passed through Deansgate Castlefield to Trafford Centre, painted with JD branding as well as the title of Nemzzz’s new release ‘Rent’s Due,’ bringing the epic two-week takeover to a close.
The double-weekender showcased speed and sound, and Dn8 fans were given front-row seats and front-row access to a true local icon. An epic display of music, talent, energy and community that authentically highlights and underscores JD’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth and empowering the next generation.
