Jaywing is behind an online documentary for Castrol GTX, telling the story of long distance driving record breaker, Irv Gordon.
The Sheffield office of the agency was responsible for the production and global activation of The 3 Million Mile Journey.
Gordon has driven the distance in his classic Volvo P1800S, only ever using the brand’s oil.
The campaign centred around the 15-minute film, which was set in New York and explored how the retired science teacher bought his new car back in 1966 and has since then driven the equivalent of to the moon and back, six times.
“When we discovered Irv’s story we simply couldn’t keep it to ourselves. Following previously successful work led by Jaywing, we briefed the agency to bring the story to life, resulting in the delivery of the fantastic ‘The 3 Million Mile Journey’ film,” said Irene Quero, global brand director, Castrol GTX.”
“We’re tremendously excited to see the launch of the film, and hope to see it drive buzz and engagement for the brand within the motoring enthusiast community and among the general public.”
The film is presented by F1’s Lee McKenzie, with technical insight from the University of Cambridge.
Jaywing which has worked with Castrol for almost 10 years was responsible for developing the concept, storyboarding it and then designing and managing the set build. It also managed its social media roll-out.
“The ‘3 Million Mile Journey’ film is the culmination of a great deal of planning and co-ordination and we’re confident that it will drive the desired results for Castrol GTX,” added Maria Vardy, managing director, Jaywing
