Cary Joji Fukunaga will direct the 25th James Bond film, following Danny Boyle’s departure late last month.
The surprise choice was announced by Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig.
“We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure,” said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
Fukunaga won acclaim for Beasts of No Nation and has also directed the 2011 version of Jane Eyre and True Detective.
Filming is set to start at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019, with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020.
It means that production has been pushed back by 3 months as a result of the “creative differences” with Boyle.
