ITVX has broken the 2bn mark, as ITV records its most successful year for streaming to date.
The platform has had 2bn streams since it was launched in December 2022, reaching 1bn by Easter Sunday.
Between January and June this year, ITVX saw its monthly active users rise 29% year-on-year to 12.5m and up 19% since the year end.
The broadcaster added that it was managing to attract its target audience of “light viewers” with viewing in that specific demographic up 93% across the first 6 months of this year.
Furthermore, viewers are remaining on ITVX for longer, with streaming hours up 33%, to 737m hours and a 22% increase in dwell time. It also found that 86% of those viewers who came onto the platform to watch an exclusive, went on to watch other content.
Big performers are Love Island, with 335m views, while the recent FIFA Women’s World Cup is ITVX’s most watched sport with 15m streams. the Tour de France was viewed 5m times – a 34% increase on last year.
ITV will be hoping that the return of Big Brother will also add further growth. The series heads to ITV2 and ITVX in the Autumn, with footage from the house live streamed on ITVX.
