Emma Murphy, well known to North West viewers, from her years as a reporter at Granada Reports, has been named International Editor at ITV News.
The former North of England and Europe Correspondent for ITV News has been its US Correspondent since 2020.
“Over many years, Emma has shown herself to be a natural leader among her peers in delivering exclusive, original journalism while effectively managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the role,” stated Andrew Dagnell, Editor of ITV News.
“Her extensive experience and innovative approach will undoubtedly strengthen our team and elevate our international coverage.”
Her predecessor, Rageh Omaar, who served as International Editor for more than a decade, will become International Affairs Analyst.
“During this time of significant change in how people consume news, I am excited to bring a fresh approach and elevate our foreign coverage,” said Murphy.
“As journalists, we are eyewitnesses to the most important global stories. In this role, I am committed to providing analysis that underscores their relevance and impact.”
During her career, Murphy has covered the Capitol riot, the war in Ukraine, the Israel/Hamas conflict, the Turkey/Syria earthquake, Notre Dame fire, Manchester Arena bombing and Joe Biden’s inauguration.
