ITV changes morning schedule to cover gap left by Jeremy Kyle Show

ITV is to extend its flagship morning shows Good Morning Britain and This Morning as part of a new schedule designed to cover the gap left by the Jeremy Kyle Show.

The changes, which take effect from January 6th, will see Good Morning Britain extended by half an hour to run from 6am until 9am, Lorraine will move to 9am, with This Morning now lasting from 10am to 12.30pm and Loose Women on from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

The Jeremy Kyle Show was forced off air in May after the death of a guest who had taken part in the show, and was subsequently permanently cancelled. MPs on the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee have since heavily criticised the show’s care and treatment of guests.

The revamp of the ITV schedule will mean that mornings on the channel will be fully live.

Emma Gormley, Managing Director ITV Daytime, which produces all of the shows, said: “The ITV daytime teams consists of the very best on screen and off screen talent in the business, enabling us to set the agenda from early morning until the afternoon, as we pass the baton from show to show.”
