International sales continue for The 1% Club

The 1% Club has now been sold to a dozen international territories, after securing licences with Hungary’s TV2 and 1+1 Ukraine.

They mark the quiz show’s first format licences in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Lee Mack-fronted show is made at MediaCity’s dock10 and has already proved a hit in the UK, becoming ITV’s biggest original gameshow in a decade.

BBC Studios is handling international sales for the Magnum Media show and the versions for Hungary and Ukraine will go into production this summer and premiere later this year.

The format is already on air in France, Spain, Germany and Australia, and more markets are set to debut this year including Mexico, the U.S.A and Turkey.

“In fewer than two months since we announced Greece as the milestone tenth territory to commission the format, I’m delighted that the format is now coming to Central and Eastern Europe with Hungary and Ukraine becoming the next countries to join The 1% Club,” said André Renaud, SVP, Global Format Sales, BBC Studios.

“With a further two series of The 1% Club commissioned in the UK after stellar ratings, it’s clear that the format’s unique appeal extends to a global audience. I’m looking forward to seeing both TV2 in Hungary and 1+1 Ukraine deliver their own turns at the entertainment show that’s not about what you know, but how your brain works .”
