Instantprint, the UK’s biggest online printing company, has announced a £3.5m expansion and renovation of its production facility in Rotherham.

Four years after moving to its current Manvers premises, which doubled printing capacity, the firm is extending its manufacturing facility into a neighbouring unit. This will increase its total footprint by 45% from 86,900 sq ft to 145,000 sq ft.

The renovation on the newly-purchased neighbouring facility at Brookfields Park will begin this month and run through to early 2020. Instantprint was founded in 2009 by James Kinsella and Adam Carnell and has grown to become the country’s biggest producer of printed products.

The firm employs more than 350 staff, having announced the creation of 40 new roles and a £3.25m investment last summer, and has a turnover of more than £30m.

Kinsella said: “We’re in an exciting position, with the business continuing to grow very rapidly year on year as more consumers choose to purchase their printed products online.

“We’re pleased to have secured a neighbouring facility so we can continue to thrive in Rotherham with our dedicated, passionate workforce. Our investment provides opportunities for both instantprint and for people in the region wanting to work for an exciting and growing business. As a result, we’re able to create a significant amount of job opportunities in the local area.

“At instantprint we’re all about making it as easy as possible for small and micro businesses to buy print. This investment enables us to do what we do best – help small businesses thrive.

“We are a very ambitious company that is rapidly expanding, it seemed that now was the right time to look at expansion to accommodate our growth. When we first moved into the building in 2015 it seemed vast, but with the investment in new equipment the space has been filling up quickly.

“The additional production space will allow the business to fulfil its growing demand and add new products to the current line-up.”
