IDHL acquires ecommerce agency to build Manchester presence

IDHL and Ampersand

Harrogate-based digital agency group IDHL has acquired ecommerce transformation specialist Ampersand as part of its continued growth strategy.

With the acquisition of Manchester-based Ampersand, which specialises in technical solutions for leading ecommerce brands including Selco, Swoon and Seraphine, IDHL plans to further build on its Manchester presence.

The addition of Ampersand to the group’s portfolio is in a bid to strengthen its development resource capability.

Following the acquisition, Ampersand CEO Darryl Adie will continue to lead Ampersand alongside Managing Director Brett Cooper. They will continue to work in close collaboration with IDHL’s leadership team to integrate and grow the business as part of the network of agencies.

The latest acquisition follows the addition of ecommerce agency Fostr in November and extends the Group’s wider web division comprising ecommerce agencies Pinpoint and Statement and digital transformation firm NetConstruct.

With the backing of Private Equity investor Bridgepoint Development Capital (BDC), the agency group has received significant funding and international support to further expand its capabilities.

Darryl Adie, Ampersand CEO, said: “We are excited to be joining the IDHL Group and the opportunities it will bring to the Ampersand team and our customers. We look forward to accelerating the work and achievements of the Ampersand team to date with the Group’s support.”

Dennis Engel, Chief Executive at IDHL, added: “We are delighted to have Ampersand join IDHL Group. Their eCommerce technical capability enhances our web division offering which supports our growth strategy and investment in this expertise.”

The connected agency group now employs around 400 people across its nine specialist agencies in Leeds, Manchester and London.
