The BBC will show England’s first 2 group games at Euro 2024 in Germany.
The opening game of the tournament will go to ITV, with hosts Germany taking on Scotland.
BBC will have the first choice of the quarter finals with ITV getting first pick of the semi finals. Both will air the final.
“With the UEFA European Championships, the Paris Olympics and Wimbledon all on the BBC next year, our summer of sport promises to be very memorable,” said Philip Bernie, Head of BBC Sport Content at MediaCity.
“In addition to live games featuring all the tournament favourites, we are very pleased to have two games each for England and Scotland in the group stages, and we hope to add two more for Wales if they qualify too. We’re proud that the BBC will once again bring audiences comprehensive coverage and analysis of the whole event across TV, radio and online, ensuring fans, wherever they are, can enjoy it all.”
If Wales qualify from the playoffs, the BBC will broadcast their group games against France and the Netherlands.
ITV will show what is likely to be one of the most anticipated early tournament games – the Group B match between Spain, who are among the favourites, and Italy, the holders.
“Following the draw, we can now begin to look forward to next summer’s Euros in Germany and we’re delighted to be able to bring viewers what should be a flying start to the tournament with the opening match between Scotland and the hosts,” added Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport/
“We have first picks of the Round of 16 and the Semi-finals and with England among the favourites, we hope to be able to bring viewers their biggest moments from what could be an historic tournament for them. We’ll be announcing our coverage plans in full in the lead-up to next June with the aim of bringing viewers the very best of Euro 2024.”
