Lime Pictures is launching a new digital series about women’s safety, starring the cast of Hollyoaks.

Why Should I? will feature real-life stories from actors, aiming to highlight gender disparity and the precautions women take on a daily basis, to ensure they’re safe.

“Since hitting puberty, there have been a plethora of different situations that I’ve been in that have compromised my safety or made me uncomfortable. I know I’m not the only one,” said Eva O’Hara.

Lily Best added:

“I won’t wear my hair up in a ponytail on my own because that’s easier to grab.”

The campaign video was premiered on International Women’s Day to a group of influential women, with the series starting this week on the Hollyoaks’ YouTube channel.

The first programme will include Alex Fletcher, Eva O’Hara, Ruby O’Donnell, Lucy-Jo Hudson, Annie Wallace, Vera Chok, Lily Best, Ariana Fravel, Dawn Hope.

The second show focuses on their male co-stars, who will watch and then discuss the subject matter.

Lime Pictures said that they would be exploring the topic of women’s safety and misogyny throughout the year.
