Holliday Grainger to star in Quay Street’s Playdate

Disney+ has announced the key cast for its new thriller, Playdate, made by Manchester’s Quay Street Productions and Brightstar.

The 5-part psychological drama has been adapted by Catherine Moulton from Alex Dahl’s best-selling novel.

It stars Denise Gough (Andor, Under the Banner of Heaven), Holliday Grainger  (Strike, The Capture),  Ambika Mod (I Hate Suzie, This Is Going to Hurt), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas, One Day), Bronagh Waugh (The Suspect, Ridley), and Michael Workeye (My Lady Jane, This Is Going to Hurt). 

The story is about Elisa, whose world is turned upside down when her young daughter is kidnapped at a sleepover. On arriving to pick her up, she finds the house completely empty and her daughter, and the supposed family who lived there, nowhere to be found. It leads to a manhunt across Europe, and she also finds herself suspected of the crime.

It’s directed by Eva Husson “Mothering Sunday, Girls of the Sun, Hanna), with Nicola Shindler the executive producer for Quay Street; Tanya Seghatchian and John Woodward for Brightstar; and  Johanna Devereaux, VP of Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA; and Alex Dahl, Eva Husson and Catherine Moulton.  

James Dean (Better, Liar) will produce.
