Tech consultancy hedgehog lab has secured £6.3 million investment from BGF to “grow globally.”
The hedgehog lab team haven’t hung around with the growth plans, having also simultaneously acquired York-based app developer Netsells.
The deal sees an exit for Maven Capital Partners, which had previously invested around £2.2m in hedgehog. Netsells will be branded as hedgehog lab and let by CEO Sarat Pediredla alongside a new executive board that includes ex-Accenture Song managing director and Karmarama founder Ben Bilboul.
Headquartered in Newcastle with operations in the US and Bulgaria, hedgehog lab works with a wide range of global brands, including AJ Bell, Aviva, Deliveroo and Tesco Bank. It provides businesses with mobile app and web development solutions, including the latest artificial intelligence, cloud and data science knowledge, and has grown rapidly since incorporating in 2007.
Netsells is a digital product consultancy working across web and mobile. It was founded by a group of students in Scarborough and now employs a team of 40 developers, designers and strategists. It has delivered work for businesses such as Itsu, Hiscox, and Warburtons and is ranked as one of the North’s fastest-growing tech businesses.
Pediredla said: “The combination of two firms with established and renowned capabilities will enhance our offering and growth prospects massively by bringing together some of the best talent in the industry and facilitating our continued expansion into new international markets.”
