Local Radio Station for the North West, Happy Radio UK, has announced two stellar new signings to its presenter line up, 10 months after its successful launch across Manchester, Cheshire and the North West.

Former Key 103 and BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Sam Walker, who left the BBC in 2019, will host a brand new weekend show, 12-2pm on both Saturdays and Sundays, while much-loved former Radio City Liverpool host, Pete Price, will be hosting another new show, Guilty Pleasures, on Saturday Evenings from 6-8pm.

Station owners Max Eden and Darren Proctor said: “Sam is a fantastic broadcaster who has an amazing ability to connect with listeners, sharing entertaining stories about her hectic life and genuinely loving those songs that make you smile [and] Pete really knows how to get a party going. We’re so excited to have him as part of our line up, he will give us the perfect start to our Saturday evenings with those songs that we secretly love combined with Pete’s infectious energy and humour.”

The new signings join Happy Radio’s heritage line up of presenters, which reads like a Who’s Who of North West broadcasting from the last few decades. Walker and Price join a rosta including Steve Penk, Darren Proctor, Chelsea Norris, Spence Macdonald, Paul Crone and many more.

Happy Radio UK launched in April 2022 and has seen a phenomenal response in its first 10 months on air, broadcasting across the North West on DAB Radio, Online, On its App, on Freeview TV and on smart speakers, and heralding the return of local radio for Manchester, Cheshire and the North West.

Proctor and Eden added: “We are thrilled at the way our radio station is expanding and bringing in new listeners and we’ve got a really exciting year ahead planned.”

Walker and Price will make their Happy Radio UK debuts on Saturday, March 4.
