Planisware UK has led a Hackathon to find tech solutions to help Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH).
Taking place at Booking.com’s new city centre offices, the one-day event sought to take on real-life challenges facing MASH, a charity which supports women who sex work.
Through its range of services it aims to build trusted relationships with women to keep them “safer, healthier and more equipped to take control of their lives.”
“It always brings me such pride to see the team together at an event – especially when it is something new, like our very first Hackathon,” said Kai Ojo, Managing Director at Planisware UK.
“Supporting local tech-driven individuals, who champion diversity and inclusion, is important to us and it is something that Manchester as a community celebrates. Being able to give something back for a worthy cause has given the team a greater understanding of issues surrounding our local area.”
Teams worked on building a technical solution to streamline the process of creating and updating service users’ profiles in the MASH digital system, to allow all users to work more efficiently and ensure confidentiality remained in place.
“As a very small, local charity, some of our systems and processes are a little outdated,” explained Bee Evans, Head of Business Development and Support at MASH.
“Finding a solution to our data collection challenges via the Hackathon will be hugely impactful as it will allow us to streamline our data collection and reduce duplication. This will directly impact upon the women we support by freeing up staff time to focus on supporting them with their needs rather than completing admin.”
MediaCity-based Planisware UK is part of the global Planisware group, which employs 600 staff across 14 offices. Planisware UK was recently accredited as a Great Place to Work-Certified organisation.
