ITV presenter Ralph Blunsom has died aged 66, the broadcaster has announced.
The news of Ralph’s death was announced on Granada Reports last night (Tuesday) by presenter Rob Smith, the Mirror reports. Ralph worked as anchor for the ITV’s North West and Isle of Man programme.
Tributes from his co-stars have since poured in following news of his death.
Fellow Granada Reports presenter Jahmal Williams-Thomas described the reporter as both “a colleague” and a “friend”:
Ralph. I had the absolute privilege of being your colleague, but more importantly your friend. We shared so many funny times and I can still hear your laugh now. You were always a champion of me and others coming up in the industry. Love you lots mate and will miss you greatly 💔 pic.twitter.com/hraLjnPNmQ

If you didn't know him, he was a reporter for @GranadaReports @BBCNWT for decades! Bumped into him on so many stories over the years, always funny, always a big hug, just a lovely lovely man ..and brilliant journalist. RIP Ralph x pic.twitter.com/cWcqa7TsEl
Blunsom was bipartisan purveyor of North West news, and also worked for BBC North West during his time as a broadcaster. BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani described his former colleague as “a lovely, friendly, fun colleague and he will be missed by many.”

Blunsom joined ITV Granada in 2003. Among the many high-profile stories he covered during his 21 years at the North West’s flagship news show was the tragic death of the 21 Morecambe Bay cockle-pickers who were caught out by an incoming tide in 2004. In 2018, he broadcasted live from Winter Hill, Lancashire during wildfires burning across the UK, which saw more than 250 acres of the stunning moorland burn.
