Goldman Sachs has reportedly begun a search in Manchester and Birmingham for a new “technology hub.”

The investment bank is said to have employed property firm, JLL, to search for a 60,000sq ft office space.

It was first reported on property website, React News, although neither JLL, nor Goldman Sachs has commented.

Should it prove correct, it would be Goldman Sachs’ second base outside of London, having already opened a retail operation in Milton Keynes.

It comes less than a week after Amazon officially opened its first corporate office outside of London, in Manchester city centre.

The group announced plans to employ more than 600 “highly skilled” tech and non tech workers, and has also partnered with the University of Manchester.

In September last year, KPMG moved 100 staff to a new technology innovation hub at the Manchester Technology Centre.
