A new audio-visual experience from GoGo Penguin and Tentacle is set to premiere at Factory International later this month.
Manchester-based cinematic back-beat trio, GoGo Penguin have created Apophenia, a feature-length live audio-visual experience over 9 months. This has been done in collaboration with cognitive design studio Tentacle and video engineering pioneers, PlanValley.
The group’s music has already influenced film content and was heavily featured in Une Année Difficile and they wrote the score to 2022 French film ‘Memento Mori” as well as composing and performing their own score for Koyaanisqatsi.
Apophenia came about while working with Tentacle Creative Director, Jordan Copeland on their recent album, Everything Is Going To Be Okay and they drew inspiration from their use of new techniques and tech:
“When we worked with Tentacle on our last album, we felt a creative spark from the outset,” they explained
“It was clear that they understood and shared our vision. We continue to be inspired by Jordan and the team’s innovation and their dedication to new techniques and technology, which we feel has enhanced and complemented our own creativity.”
The resulting experience is described as an “exhilarating journey into your own psychological hardware, exploring the subjective relationships between aural and visual perception.”
GoGo Penguin’s music will drive audio-reactive visuals on big screens.
