Leeds-headquartered football website Goal has teamed up with Manchester City to launch a new eSports series.
Goal Vs will pitch Goal’s professional FIFA player, Graham “GrayzaGoal” McIntyre (above), against other eSports pros in matches to be published online and on social media.
The first four episodes feature McIntyre competing against players from Manchester City and its sister clubs New York City FC and Melbourne City FC, which are part of the City Football Group.
The clubs will also share the series across their own social media accounts. The series will launch on May 24th, with McIntyre facing Christopher “NYC_Chris” Holly in the first episode.
Paul Rayment, marketing manager for Goal said: “FIFA plays an integral part in how Goal’s fans enjoy football, for many, they spend more time playing the game than watching football on TV. As we’ve seen the popularity of FIFA as an eSport rise, we’ve been looking for a way to introduce it to our audience and we see “Goal Vs” as the perfect way to do so.
“City Football Group’s eSports players are some of the best in the world and working with them on the first four episodes makes perfect sense, aligning with Goal’s strategy to focus on the biggest teams, players and competitions in the world.”
Goal, which is owned by Perform Group, was a broadcast partner of both the Sportego eLeague and eChamps 2018 FIFA tournaments.
