BBC Children’s and Education has commissioned a new show for pre-schoolers, called Playtime Towers.
The celebration of imaginative play and educational content is aimed at 2-4 year olds and is currently filming in Glasgow.
Made by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions, the magazine show features new activities on each floor and the only way to find them is to ride the lift with Bella the Elevator Fun Maker, played my newcomer, Rose-Marie Christian.
“Little ones and their grown-ups will love this new take on the classic children’s TV format,” said Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies.
“The magazine show has been much-loved for generations since Playschool and family favourites like Show Me, Show Me and now Playtime Towers, with all the fun across each floor creating magical moments for today’s children.”
The BBC said that the show was designed to appeal to the youngest viewers, tapping into their creativeness and providing an entry point for other content as they continue to grow with CBeebies.
Anna Perowne is the Executive Producer. Commissioning Executives for the BBC are Julia Bond and Dan Flint.
It’s the latest major studio-based show that BBC Children’s and Education has filmed in Glasgow, rather than its home in Salford. Saturday Mash-up! relocated to Pacific Quay in 2022, having previously used MediaCity and dock10.
