GB News has “ended its employment relationship” with Laurence Fox and Calvin Robinson, who were suspended last week following a bizarre rant by Fox on the channel about Joe political editor Ava Evans.
GB News added in a Tweet announcing the departures that Dan Wootton, on whose show the rant took place, remains under investigation.
Fox’s detailed critique of Evans’ work as a journalist included lines such as: “Show me a single, self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman, ever.”
Wootton, who later apologised, was suspended alongside Fox having appeared to smile and laugh in approval with Fox’s comments. Fellow presenter Robinson was later suspended after emerging as a high-profile supporter of Fox’s right to “free speech” as the storm over the outburst raged.
The comments occurred on Dan Wootton Tonight, in response to a previous panel discussion on the BBC’s Politics Live in which Evans had questioned the need for a minister for men to tackle male suicide.
Media regulator Ofcom has now launched an investigation after receiving over 7,000 complaints about the programme.
Wootton has also been sacked from his role as a columnist for MailOnline, where he was already suspended over unrelated allegations he strongly denies.
