A new BBC Two documentary will look to capture the “intense and extraordinary” impact that a new baby can have on families across the UK.
ITV Studios-owned The Garden Productions has been commissioned to make The Arrival (w/t) which it hopes will “give us a window into modern family life” in 2019.
Shot with a mixture of traditional filming and fixed-rig cameras, the 4x60min series will tell the “real story of parenting a newborn with truth, humour and detail that is rarely possible”.

The Garden Productions has a great track record of taking viewers to the heart of family life and this promises to be a revealing and heart-warming new series.”
Executive Producer for The Arrival is Jessie Versluys, with Barnaby Peel (Last Chance Lawyer, BBC Two) the Series Director and Gemma Brady (24 Hours In A&E) Series Producer. It was commissioned by Patrick Holland, Controller, BBC Two and Clare Sillery Head of Commissioning, Documentaries. The BBC Commissioning Editor is Emma Loach.
The Garden, which is also behind 24 Hours In A&E and 24 Hours In Police Custody (Channel 4), recently opened The Garden Yorkshire in Leeds.
