House of Fraser's Manchester store

Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has further increased its stake in Manchester fashion firm N Brown, alongside taking a bigger share of national electrical retailer Currys.

The retail empire has upped its stake in N Brown to over 18 per cent, documents filed with the London Stock Exchange, while the group has raised its stake in Currys from 10.4 per cent to 11.1 per cent.

Frasers Group, which owns Sports Direct and House of Fraser among many others, first invested in the Manchester-headquartered company in October 2022 and has been gradually increasing its stake since, most recently in January this year. The group has also recently made investments in Bolton electricals etailer AO and acquired brands including Studio retail and I Saw It First.

Frasers is currently the second largest shareholder in N Brown, following the Alliance family, who have led the company since Lord David Alliance acquired it in 1968.
