Online and physical men’s and women’s scent retailer The Fragrance Shop has appointed former JD Sports chairman and CEO Peter Cowgill as its first non-executive chairman of The Fragrance Shop.
Cowgill quit his role as executive chairman at the Bury-headquartered group suddenly in May, and was reportedly barred from working for any direct competitiors as part of his £5.5m severance deal at the time. He has taken up his new job with immediate effect.
Cowgill said he particularly looked forward to expanding the Manchester-HQd Fragrance Shop’s digital business in his new role: “I look forward to working with [The Fragrance Shop] closely on its expansion plans – particularly in its digital business, as it furthers its international footprint and in support of category expansion through acquisition and organic growth,” he said.
